also known as Indian frankincense, salai guggul, or shallaki belongs to the family Burseraceae. It is native to hot regions of India. The major active components of these resins are monoterpenes, diterpenes, triterpenes, tetracyclic triterpenic acids, and important pentacyclic triterpenic acids i.e. β-boswellic acid, acetyl-β-boswellic acid, 11-keto-β-boswellic acid, and acetyl-11-keto-β-boswellic acid. This resin is a good source of antioxidants. It is well known for its health benefits.
